John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio (Miracle on 34th Street Fight)

At the start of the main event, Alberto Del Rio tried to clear the air by claiming hitting Santa Claus with his car earlier in the night was just an accident and he wasn’t trying to hurt him. With thoughts of an injured Santa dancing in his head, John Cena brought the fight to Del Rio in a bout where anything goes and there are no disqualifications.

Taking advantage of the Miracle on 34th Street Fight rules, Cena started by blasting Del Rio with a steel chair. The Mexican Aristocrat battled back and took a gift-wrapped pumpkin pie from Ricardo Rodriguez as a weapon. Unfortunately for the ring announcer, Del Rio connected with him rather than Cena, leaving him a sticky, orange mess!

As the fight continued on the entrance ramp and stage, Cena unwrapped a TV monitor and used it to bash Del Rio in the head. When Rodriguez confronted Cena, Del Rio capitalized on the distraction, kicking Cena in the back and unloading with a series of punches while Cena was down.

With Cena still dazed, Rodriguez handed Del Rio a wrapped gift to use as a potential weapon. To Del Rio’s dismay, the gift turned out to be a harmless teddy bear! After throwing the bear at Cena, he countered by slamming Del Rio into the LED screen at the top of the ramp. Then in a hilarious moment, Cena laid a Christmas wreath around Rodriguez’s neck and smashed the hapless ring announcer over the head with a gift box!

As the competitors battled their way back toward the ring, Cena slammed Del Rio into ring barricade. With his foe down, the Cenation leader went back to the stage to search through the gifts for another weapon. At the WWE Universes’ prompting, he opted for the Christmas tree, which he used to charge toward Del Rio and smash him to the arena floor. With The Mexican Aristocrat down and writhing in pain, Cena unwrapped a bowling ball and rolled it into Del Rio, leaving him in agony.

For his final assault, the 2012 Slammy Award winner for Superstar of the Year unwrapped a fire extinguisher and blasted Del Rio with a blinding cloud of white powder. With Del Rio dazed, Rodriguez charged into the ring and locked Cena in a sleeper hold! With the Cenation leader in trouble, Santa emerged to the delight of the WWE Universe! When a jovial Rodriguez released his hold and approached Jolly St. Nick, Santa bashed him with his bag of toys!

Then in an epic move, Santa used one of his stockings to hit Del Rio with a “Santa Socko.” With Del Rio still reeling, Cena hit him with a blistering Attitude Adjustment for the win!

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler closed out the holiday extravaganza with a message for the entire WWE Universe: “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.”

"It was a rough week for John Cena, who came up short in his attempt to claim Dolph Ziggler’s Money in the Bank contract at WWE TLC, and it went from bad to worse due to AJ Lee’s meddling. And now that Big E Langston is targeting him, what else could possibly go wrong for the 2012 Slammy Award winner for Superstar of the Year?"

WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS: 12/18/2012

WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS: 12/18/2012 in PITTSBURGH

On “Miz TV,” AJ Lee explained her actions against John Cena
PITTSBURGH –Though the monumental SuperSmackDown LIVE aired without commercial interruption, that didn’t prevent a major main event disruption. As AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler continued to rain down controversy upon WWE, the unpredictable Diva’s “friend,” Big E Langston, ripped through John Cena for the second time in a week.

The Miz opened SuperSmackDown LIVE, welcoming Dolph Ziggler and a skipping AJ Lee to the show in an attempt to get to the bottom of their shocking actions at both WWE TLC and on last night’s Raw. Joining the controversial pair was Big E Langston, the intimidating presence AJ brought to the ring on Raw and who attacked John Cena during the main event.

In response to Miz’s question as to why AJ cost Cena the Money in the Bank contract at WWE TLC and kissed Ziggler one day later, the unpredictable Diva accused Cena of playing with her heart. She said while she lost her job as Raw General Manager to keep his name clean and wanted to rejoice in them growing closer together, he toyed with her emotions and broke her heart, insulting the gifts she made for him, deny her offers of support in his matches in the name of “safety” and generally trying to keep her hidden like a “dirty little secret.” In response, she helped Ziggler break him.

When Miz answered back with a humorous “crazy” comment, the intimidating Langston became noticeably confrontational. AJ warned The Awesome One that her friend didn’t like when people called her that.

John Cena & Sheamus def. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show & Dolph Ziggler by Disqualification

With all the actions of the past week — from WWE TLC to Raw to “Miz TV” earlier in the night — it is no wonder the SuperSmackDown LIVE main event would be very personal for all four Superstars involved.

And with Big E Langston and AJ Lee looking on at ringside, that is exactly what it was. While the determined Big Show & Ziggler combination maintained an impressive advantage for a good amount of the match, once the resilient Celtic Warrior reached his partner, the leader of the Cenation took charge.

As he did, Sheamus also regrouped, knocking an interfering Big Show over the top rope and out of the ring. This sparked a brawl between the giant and his Irish adversary all the way up the ramp.

Back in the ring, Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment, signaling he was about to put the match to bed. Before he could capitalize, however, Big E entered the ring — at the behest of AJ. Without warning, he clobbered Cena, obliterating the 10-time WWE Champion for the second time in as many nights

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 12/17/2012

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 12/17/2012
in PHILADELPHIA

AJ Lee and John Cena won the Kiss of the Year Slammy

Let’s be real here: There was no way Vickie Guerrero presenting Kiss of the Year to AJ Lee — nominated four times alongside Daniel Bryan, Kane, CM Punk and eventual co-winner John Cena — wasn’t going to be good after what went down last night at WWE TLC. With AJ apparently shirking the romantic company of Cena for the bleach-blond charms of Dolph Ziggler, Vickie was a bit wounded given her on-and-off dalliances with The Showoff in the past couple of years. Still, the Managing Supervisor manned up and awarded the smooch statuette to AJ, though she wasn’t above demanding an explanation for the Brooklyn, N.Y., betrayal the night before. But instead of closure, Vickie was left with egg on her face when AJ sauntered out and — strike up the band and make the fireflies dance — planted a big kiss on Ziggler’s face after The Showoff came out to try to keep the peace.

Ric Flair returned, presented Superstar of the Year to John Cena and fought WWE Champion CM Punk

Seriously, who else could it have been? Who else could have awarded the supreme Slammy for a tumultuous 2012 than the limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’, kiss-stealin’, wheelin’, dealin’ son of a gun himself, Ric Flair? Flair returned to WWE after a lengthy hiatus and looked like he never missed a beat. And like everything he’s ever done, “The Nature Boy’s” return to WWE did not come to pass without a maelstrom of controversy after the two-time WWE Hall of Famer was awarded the Slammy by its voted recipient, John Cena. But before Flair could take the trophy in his perfectly manicured hands, WWE Champion CM Punk hobbled out to the stage to drop a “pipe bomb” on Flair, unleashing a tirade against “Naitch” and insistinghe, not Flair or Cena, was the true Superstar of the Year.

So how does Ric Flair respond to such a thing? Why, he challenged Punk to a fight. The Second City Saint obliged, too, shattering one of his crutches over Flair’s back before The Dirtiest Player in the Game countered by poking Punk in the eye and wrenching Paul Heyman into the Figure-Four Leglock. With Punk and Heyman dispatched, Flair took to the mic to address the Philadelphia crowd ... until the crackling static of The Shield’s theme spelled doom for Flair. “Come on down, boys,” he said, clearly ready for more.

John Cena & Vickie Guerrero def. Dolph Ziggler & AJ Lee via Disqualification after Big E Langston interfered

First thing’s first: Why AJ, why?

“Everyone keeps asking me why,” AJ Lee told the assembled Philadelphia crowd from her perch atop a ladder. “I thought it would be obvious,” she cooed. But before AJ could reveal her motives, Vickie Guerrero made her way to the ring with John Cena and Dolph Ziggler following so the foursome’s Mixed Tag Match could begin in earnest.

Ziggler began the match with a strut in his step (literally, he did Ric Flair’s strut) and went mano a mano against Cena with mat wrestling techniques, looping in and out of various holds before AJ tagged in and Vickie swarmed the former Raw General Manager in the ring. AJ vacated the contest following Vickie’s mauling, with the Managing Supervisor following suit and leaving Cena and Ziggler to their own devices. The two Superstars clashed mightily, with Ziggler nearly felling the Cenation leader until Cena turned the tables.

But before Cena could force Ziggler to submit to the STF, AJ returned with a hulking accomplice: the monstrous Big E Langston, who sprinted to the ring and made quick work of Cena. The attack left the 10-time WWE Champion sprawled on the mat while the NXT strongman stood tall and AJ skipped about, smiling like she knew the biggest secret in the world.

WWE TLC Pay-Per-View Result 2012

WWE TLC Pay-Per-View Result 2012

Dolph Ziggler def. John Cena (Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank contract)

in BROOKLYN, N.Y John Cena promised on Twitter that history would be made at WWE TLC. Little did he realize that history would be made at his expense.

In a turn of events that left more than 15,000 rowdy New Yorkers in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center uncharacteristically speechless, AJ Lee inserted herself into the Ladder Match for Dolph Ziggler’s World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank contract and helped The Showoff defeat John Cena by intentionally pushing the Cenation leader off the top of a ladder.

It was the last thing the WWE Universe expected from the woman they had just voted Diva of the Year on WWE.com’s Slammy Awards, especially after her intensely personal confrontation with Ziggler only weeks ago. But it proved once again that the only thing predictable about AJ is her unpredictability.

Would Dolph have lost his coveted contract were it not for AJ’s efforts? It certainly appeared that way. Although Dolph walked into the biggest match of his career brimming with confidence, the egotistical Superstar from Hollywood, Fla., had difficulty containing Cena. A decade into his WWE tenure, the franchise player was out to prove to Ziggler that it’s one thing to say you belong in the main event — it’s another thing entirely to hang there.

That’s not to say Dolph didn’t impress. Taking advantage of the Ladder Match’s free-for-all rules, The Showoff utilized a steel chair and a ladder to even the playing field against the supremely powerful Cena. In fact, Ziggler nearly took the Cenation leader out of the equation early by sending the sharp edge of a ladder into Cena’s ocular cavity, but it would take more than an eye injury to stop the powerhouse.

Seemingly energized by the electric Brooklyn crowd, Cena almost knocked Ziggler out of his short shorts by bashing him in the head with the steel steps. The former WWE Champion then found the strength to climb the ladder towards the Money in the Bank contract while Ziggler executed a Sleeper Hold on his back before a woozy Cena fell and both men crashed through a table below.

The Showoff found his feet first and scrambled back up the ladder, but that’s when the West Newbury, Mass., native truly showed his uncanny resolve. Rising from the rubble of a shattered table, Cena grabbed the ladder with Ziggler on it and pressed both the ladder and Ziggler onto his shoulders as if to apply his patented Attitude Adjustment. The eely Dolph managed to squirm away from the dangerous predicament, but he realized in that moment that Cena was even more powerful than he had imagined.

From there, it was an endless game of one-upmanship between the two talented Superstars. Cena would go for the AA and Ziggler would land on his feet. The Showoff would execute a Zig Zag and the Cenation leader would be back in the fight before Dolph caught his wind. By the time Cena sent Ziggler through a table with an unimaginable standing hurricanrana, even the WWE fans in the Barclays Center were struggling to catch their collective breath.

What would it take to stop John Cena? A Mack truck would have helped, but Ziggler had to settle for a tiny Diva named AJ Lee. It played out like this: After Cena dispatched Dolph with an Attitude Adjustment, Vickie Guerrero attempted to take out the Cenation leader with a steel chair only to be stopped by a fiery AJ. Clad in a John Cena T-shirt and matching wristbands, the spunky Diva hit Vickie with her own version of a Five Knuckle Shuffle and then cheered Cena on as he climbed the rungs towards the briefcase.

And that’s when she recklessly pushed the face of WWE off the ladder and sent him spiraling perilously to the ring ropes below.

Cena's tumble was ugly and, for a moment, Ziggler and AJ stared at each other from across the ring, both grasping to figure out what the other was thinking. But the tension broke as AJ flashed a wicked smile and skipped away as Dolph hurried up the ladder to recapture his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Dolph was barely out of the ring by the time WWE fans started asking questions. Had it been a deliberate assist for Ziggler on AJ’s part? Or was it a manic cry for Cena’s attention? That’s difficult to say. After trysts with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and even Kane this year, AJ has shown she changes romantic interests more often than she changes Converses. But her heated confrontations with The Showoff make it hard to understand why AJ would help a Superstar so loathsome.

Either way, we can predict Cena will be looking for answers from AJ on Monday’s Raw. Just remember, John, AJ’s not so easy to predict.

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 12/10/2012

John Cena def. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show via Disqualification, The Shield attacked

Resuming their brutal rivalry from the summer, John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Big Show collided in an earth-shaking contest in the Prudential Center that saw the Cenation leader notch a disqualification victory amid a scene of unimaginable chaos.

With Dolph Ziggler sitting at commentary, Cena came out swinging against The World's Largest Athlete and that strategy worked about as well as you'd expect, with the giant showing no ill effects after the Cenation leader's opening sequence. The two strongmen took turns slugging each other for the majority of the contest before Cena made his big play, reversing Big Show's chokeslam into a DDT and showing off his agility in an attempt to slow down the giant's momentum. Big Show countered with a power move of his own, wrapping the 10-time WWE Champion in an iron-tight bear hug and forcing Cena toward the mat.

The Cenation leader kept his footing, however, breaking Show's lock and looking to lock in the STF before Big Show booted him through the ropes. The giant continued his onslaught on Cena, hauling him into the barricade and nearly earning a win by count-out. Cena stormed back into the ring at the last minute but found himself immediately cut down by a Big Show clothesline. Show eventually forced Cena into a corner with bad intentions on his mind, and the giant gleefully pancaked a prone Cena with a top-rope splash. Unwilling to stop at just one, though, Show dragged Cena across the ring and attempted an encore, but Cena rolled out of the way and executed the Attitude Adjustment to put Big Show on his back.

Before he could make the cover, though, catastrophe struck.

Seth Rollins stormed the ring from cover of the crowd, swarming Cena (and giving him the win via disqualification in the process) as his Shield cohorts quickly followed suit. As Big Show joined in the onslaught, fire erupted from the stage and Team Hell No sprinted down to the ring to even the odds. Dolph Ziggler was next in the fray, tilting the scales back away from Cena and company and bringing out Sheamus to level the playing field yet again. The Celtic Warrior made a beeline for Ziggler, accosting The Showoff out of the ring and into the crowd while Cena speared Big Show through a table propped up against the turnbuckle.

The Shield, however, continued their mangling of the Tag Team Champions, but the Newark crowd seemed to know salvation was close at hand. As chants of "FEED ME MORE!" boomed through the Prudential Center, Ryback's music hit and the beast himself marched down to the ring, tossing a ladder into all three members of The Shield and joining in the chaos as Raw faded to black off a scene of unimaginable chaos: bodies, boots, fists, kicks, punches, monsters, goat faces, Irishmen, champions, contenders, showoffs, thugs and, of course, tables, ladders and chairs. Oh my.

John Cena spoke to Virginia's "Hampton Roads"

John Cena spoke to Virginia's HamptonRoads.com this week to promote WWE’s upcoming Tribute to the Troops special.

Read some of the things Cena said:

On why pro wrestling and patriotism seem to go so well together so often:

"You know what, I don't know. At the root of the good-vs.-evil story is what America is all about."

On what it's like meeting the members of the military:

"It's kind of backwards. Every one of them wants to thank us, but we're there to thank them. It's a mutual respect."

On how pro wrestling kept him out of the military:

"I was literally about to join the Marine Corps (Officer Candidate School) when a buddy asked me if I wanted to be a wrestler. I thought I would literally last two weeks in there and the Marines would always be there."

On Krispy Kreme, an awkward rapper and YouTube sensation who recently posted a Christmas song asking for a John Cena action figure and pajamas:

"He's always wearing my stuff. The Christmas rap is great. He does a lot of unorthodox stuff."

On what it's like performing in an arena full of military folk:

"The energy is crazy. They like to get excited. We encourage them to take a night off and come to the event and be exactly the fans that they want to be."

MATCH PREVIEW: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler Ladder Match at TLC

MATCH PREVIEW: John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler Ladder Match at TLC

With history on the line, how much would you be willing to sacrifice? What lengths would you be willing to go to? How far, how fast and how hard would you climb to etch your name in the annals of WWE legend?

It’s a question John Cena and Dolph Ziggler will have to answer at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, when The Showoff will put his most prized possession on the line (no, not his abs) against the Cenation leader in a Ladder Match: the Money in the Bank contract for the World Heavyweight Championship.

And no, “history-making” is not hyperbole in this case. Cena is the only Superstar in WWE history to cash in his own Money in the Bank contract and fail to win a World Title as a result (he redeemed a WWE Championship contract at Raw 1,000 and beat WWE Champion CM Punk by disqualification, earning him the victory but denying him the prize). And only one Superstar in history has ever lost his Money in the Bank contract in a one-on-one match. So for Cena, TLC represents an opportunity no other Superstar has ever had: a second chance and, more importantly, an opportunity to rectify his failure at Raw 1,000 and end 2012 with the World Heavyweight Title firmly in his sights.

For Ziggler, however, the stakes are higher. The Showoff had to fight and claw to get his hands on the contract in the first place, and minus some early almost-attempts at redeeming the prize, Ziggler has proven quite stingy in his willingness to cash in. But while The Showoff has left the incumbent titleholder Big Show to his own devices against Sheamus, he’s very quietly become a force to be reckoned with. In the last month alone, Ziggler has amassed a series of impressive wins over Randy Orton, including one in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match in which Ziggler emerged as the sole survivor. He’s also taken Cena to the limit in a one-on-one match on Raw, a surge indicating The Showoff’s time to seize the prize is likely fast approaching.

But now, he may not get the chance. While Ziggler is reaching his apex, Cena has been operating at his own for some time. As a previous Money in the Bank winner and a two-time World Heavyweight Champion himself, the Cenation leader will find himself in a very familiar, very comfortable position at TLC. Ziggler, on the other hand, is in a precarious one. The Showoff is all momentum at this point, and there’s no Superstar who can take that away faster than Cena. Granted, this is not the same Ziggler who wheeled and dealed his way to a tainted World Title victory in 2011. This is not even the same Ziggler who won the Money in the Bank contract this past July. This is something far tougher than that. Something much closer to the top-tier wrestler he has always claimed to be.

But is it enough? History looms large for both Superstars. One can rewrite it, and one can avoid ending up on the wrong side of it. Only one question now remains: What are they prepared to do?

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 12/3/2012

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 12/3/2012
in GREENSBORO, N.C.

John Cena & Sheamus def. World Heavyweight Champion Big Show & Dolph Ziggler

There are big tag team matches, and then there are big tag team matches. It's fair to say the marquee tag contest that unfolded in Greensboro fell in the latter category when John Cena & Sheamus joined forces against the formidable duo of Dolph Ziggler & World Heavyweight Champion Big Show.

Stemming from their four-way brawl last Friday on SmackDown, the Superstars picked right up where they left off and didn't hold back from the get-go. Sheamus and Ziggler started the contest off, with The Celtic Warrior unleashing a barrage of shoulders and kicks, and Ziggler using his agility to counter and create breathing room. Cena tagged in quickly, though, and locked The Showoff up in a headlock to continue his budding rivalry with Mr. Money in the Bank.

After a brief reversal, Cena began to mount momentum against The Showoff, sending Ziggler airborne with a series of hiptosses until Ziggler countered and summoned Big Show from his post on the apron. Given his history with Cena, the giant was all too happy to oblige his partner.

Cena attempted to take Big Show down with his flying shoulderblocks, but he might as well have been trying to take down a brick wall. Show withstood Cena's attacks without so much as a flinch and proceeded to manhandle the 10-time WWE Champion, scoring a near-fall after Cena's attempt at a powerslam went sour.

The Showoff tagged back in with Cena down and laced into his opponent's prone torso with a barrage of elbows, but the Cenation leader was able to dodge Ziggler's flying forearm and tag in a fresh Sheamus from the corner. Ziggler reached Big Show at the same time, and what unfolded next was something out of a 1950s monster movie.

Sheamus rampaged into the match with untamed fury, felling Big Show with power strikes and even knocking the giant off his feet. The World's Largest Athlete retaliated quickly, though, cutting the battering ram off mid-leap with a spear. After tenderizing The Celtic Warrior, Show called for Ziggler, and The Showoff went to work against Sheamus, looking to put The Celtic Warrior away with a headlock. Sheamus replied with an Irish Curse and, sensing the time was right, called Cena back in from the corner.

Cena's onslaught was swift and merciless, unleashing a wave of offense before hoisting Ziggler up for the Attitude Adjustment. Before Cena could put Ziggler away, Big Show broke up the maneuver by kicking the Cenation leader in his injured knee. Sheamus stormed back at this sign of trouble, heaving Big Show up for White Noise while Cena caught Ziggler again and executed the AA, scoring the deciding pinfall on Mr. Money in the Bank to bring the epic contest to an end.

Mr. McMahon met with Vickie Guerrero in the ring

Mr. McMahon was in no mood for beating around the bush when he summoned Vickie Guerrero to the ring for a meeting in which The Chairman of the Board took his Managing Supervisor to task over the way Raw's been run for the last couple of weeks … and instigated some interesting stipulations going forward.

Vickie pushed for John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, but Mr. McMahon wouldn't have it. Showing no patience for excuses or shortcuts, Mr. McMahon floated a unique "request" toward Vickie: What would happen if John Cena and Dolph Ziggler fought at TLC in a Ladder Match? And what, exactly, would happen if the prize at stake in that Ladder Match was none other than Ziggler's Money in the Bank contract for the World Heavyweight Championship?

Vickie balked somewhat at this sudden endangerment of her former client's prized possession, saying, "Cena could gain everything and Ziggler could lose anything. It's not fair."

But The Chairman wasn't buying it, calling the stipulation punishment for Vickie and Dolph's pursuance of the "AJ scandal." "Don't you think you owe them something more than just an apology? Like making this match official."

But wait, there was one more stipulation announced, this time for CM Punk's lie detector test on "Miz TV": If Punk failed the test, he was lying all along. And in that case, Punk's de facto mouthpiece and the architect of all the chaos that ensued, Paul Heyman, would have to face Ryback next week on Raw.

He has spoken.

Vickie Guerrero confronted Dolph Ziggler, Paul Heyman and John Cena in her office

Rough day at the office, huh?

Vickie Guerrero had a tough enough couple of minutes when Mr. McMahon forced her to put Dolph Ziggler's Money in the Bank contract on the line at WWE TLC. But that was nothing compared to what happened after The Shield's beatdown of Randy Orton.

First, Dolph Ziggler stormed into the Managing Supervisor's office and seethed that Vickie was, yet again, putting his career in danger for the sake of making the show unpredictable and exciting. "You're becoming just like [AJ Lee]," The Showoff seethed.

Next up was Paul Heyman, who didn't have a single thing to say to Vickie. Instead, the two stared each other down for what felt like an eternity. Neither broke their stare, nor the tension, but Vickie did break the silence. "For your sake, I hope CM Punk is telling the truth."

Heyman exited with a smirk while John Cena walked in.

The Cenation leader was positively beaming at the stipulation that had been added to his match at TLC, but Vickie had a retort ready for the 10-time WWE Champion. After having the production assistants clean out the Divas' locker room last week, she found something interesting: a pair of hair bows with Cena's picture in them ... not unlike ones AJ might wear.

"You just can't leave well enough alone," Cena said of the discovery.

Vickie had a retort for that one, too. Bringing up AJ's past relationships and the obsession that came with them, the Managing Supervisor laid an ominous warning at the Cenation leader's feet: "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it."

WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS: 11/30/2012

WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS: 11/30/2012

Cena's return to Friday night had a definite impact on Del Rio

BOSSIER CITY, La. — With WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs just 16 days away, Sheamus battled Dolph Ziggler in a titanic main event on Friday Night SmackDown. But when the action took a massive turn with the emergence of World Heavyweight Champion Big Show, John Cena stormed the ring to even the odds for The Celtic Warrior.

With the “AJ scandal” hotter than ever following the ex–Raw General Manager’s involvement in a one-on-one match between John Cena and Dolph Ziggler Monday night, the Cenation leader made a rare appearance on the SmackDown stage with a pointed message to The Showoff.

Coming off their epic one-on-one battle, Cena didn’t hold back, calling Ziggler “a man whose greatest accomplishment is being World Heavyweight Champion for two minutes.” Then, claiming The Showoff “hides behind the power of Vickie Guererro,” Cena turned Ziggler’s recent criticisms of the 10-time WWE Champion around, and pointed the finger directly at Mr. Money in the Bank. And with Ziggler scheduled to face Sheamus in the night’s main event, Cena assured the WWE Universe it would be more of a fight than a match.

But Cena’s impassioned monologue was cut short by the sudden interruption of Alberto Del Rio, who told him he shouldn’t worry about Ziggler — he should instead worry about The Mexican Aristocrat. Claiming SmackDown is “his show,” Del Rio told Cena to leave “his ring.”

The Cenation leader answered with a fist to Del Rio’s face, after telling the affluent Superstar that, since he’s already here, he may as well have a match — and it’ll be against Del Rio!

John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio

It was a rivalry renewed, as John Cena battled Alberto Del Rio in an enormous Friday night opening act. With Dolph Ziggler looking on in the back, it was all Del Rio early on in the ring, as The Mexican Aristocrat mocked Cena’s trademark “you can’t see me” hand gesture. Despite the skill and ruthlessness of his opponent, however, Cena turned the tables on Del Rio — setting the stage for a fierce showdown.

In the final moments of the very physical encounter between the two former World Champions, Cena found himself tied up and hanging upside down in the corner. Del Rio seized his opportunity and charged his adversary. Cena dodged at the last second, though, causing Del Rio to eat the steel ring post. Cena connected with a big leg drop off the top rope, covering The Mexican Aristocrat to rack up an impressive blue brand victory.

As Cena celebrated at the top of the ramp, Dolph Ziggler emerged from backstage to ambush the Cenation leader, clocking him from behind with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Stealing the show, indeed.

Later, with a clearly irate Cena pleading his case about Ziggler’s sneak attack, SmackDown General Manager Booker T told the Cenation leader, “I don’t need my show breaking down tonight.” The five-time WCW Champion went on to ask Cena to let the night’s main event — Sheamus vs. Ziggler — go on uninterrupted. Citing the fact he and Booker go back a long way, Cena agreed not to interfere.

Sheamus def. Dolph Ziggler by Disqualification

In an interview with Matt Striker prior to his match, Sheamus said with fire in his eyes, “As far as I’m concerned, I’m not even facing Dolph Ziggler tonight. … Every opponent I’ve been in the ring with, to me, has looked like Big Show.” Seeing The World’s Largest Athlete at every turn, Sheamus seemed primed and ready for a fight.

And The Celtic Warrior made it clear — that is very bad news for The Showoff.

With his Monday night loss to John Cena still sticking in his craw, Ziggler was asked if he has something to prove. In typical fashion, Mr. Money in the Bank deflected the question, and instead spouted off about how Cena is not to be trusted, going so far as to call the Cenation leader the “biggest liar in the history of WWE.”

The Showoff then responded to Sheamus’ comments from earlier in the night, saying The Celtic Warrior won’t be looking at Big Show when they face each other in the main event. Instead, he’ll be looking at the next World Champion.

With his World Title Match against Big Show at WWE TLC just more than two weeks away, Sheamus squared off against Ziggler in a show-stealing main event on SmackDown.

Looking to cap off a busy night, Ziggler was determined to recapture the highs of last week — one of the most impressive seven-day spans in WWE history, which included being the sole survivor in the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.

But The Celtic Warrior is always up for a fight, at one point hurling Ziggler into the barricade at ringside. For his part, Ziggler matched the brute-force physicality of the fiery Superstar, and the two engaged in a blockbuster back-and-forth battle that brought the WWE Universe in attendance to the edge of their seats. As the action ramped up, Sheamus came up empty with a Brogue Kick attempt, and Ziggler planted his opponent with a monstrous, leaping DDT. But as he’s shown time and again, Sheamus simply doesn’t know the meaning of the word quit, and refused to stay down.

When Sheamus locked Ziggler in the Texas Cloverleaf, it appeared as though the end was near. But at that moment, Big Show suddenly emerged from backstage and ran down to the ring, causing Sheamus to release The Showoff and the referee to call for a disqualification. Big Show and Ziggler proceeded to team up against Sheamus, but Cena came to the rescue, nailing Ziggler with an AA before he and Sheamus combined to take down The World’s Largest Athlete with a double supplex.

True to his word, Cena didn’t interject himself into the situation until after the bell rung, and his timing couldn’t have been better. An angry giant was left seething outside the ring Friday night, but come WWE TLC, will Big Show once again enjoy the last laugh over Sheamus?

WWE MAIN EVENT RESULTS: 11/28/2012

WWE MAIN EVENT RESULTS: 11/28/2012

in Bossier City, La. — John Cena made his WWE Main Event debut and battled Damien Sandow in a hard-fought battle that kept the WWE Universe on the edge of their seats. Also, U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro squared off with Zack Ryder and a huge Champion vs. Champion Match was set for next week!
John Cena def. Damien Sandow.

John Cena made his highly anticipated debut on WWE Main Event, battling one of WWE’s brightest young stars, Damien Sandow. The Intellectual Savior of the Masses was presented with a simple yet huge opportunity: defeat John Cena on national television. Before the contest, Sandow addressed the WWE Universe, claiming Cena was a “false idol.” Unfortunately for Sandow, his words only fired up the Cenation leader, who was undoubtedly ready for a fast-paced and competitive contest.

The WWE Universe was firmly in Cena’s corner as soon as the match got underway and Sandow was visibly frustrated with an early grapple that gave “The Bastion of Bravery” his first test with the 10-time WWE Champion. The Cenation leader kept Sandow on the defensive, frustrating the scholarly Superstar to the point of walking away from the match. Cena had other plans and chased after his opponent, throwing him back into the ring and mounting an impressive offense.

Sandow managed to turn the tables with a powerful kick to the sternum that sent Cena reeling. The young competitor wisely kept the pressure on the Cenation leader, building momentum against his experienced opponent. With the contest swinging in his favor, Sandow used the opportunity to show off the impressive in-ring skills he learned from the legendary Killer Kowalski. The Intellectual Savior was relentless in his efforts — each time Cena tried to fight back, Sandow managed to keep him at bay.

“The Duke of Decency” kept his momentum until colliding with his opponent in the middle of the ring. As the two ring warriors struggled to their feet, they exchanged blows — going toe-to-toe in the center of the squared circle. Though Cena got the better of the interchange, Sandow impressively managed to keep his hopes alive, tangling his opponent in the ropes.

With Cena struggling to break free from the rope, Sandow delivered punishing punches and kicks — though he took plenty of time to taunt Cena and the WWE Universe. As The Intellectual Savior of the Masses goaded the audience, Cena broke free and tackled his adversary. The Cenation leader was fired up as the excitement in the Century Link Center built, but Sandow regained control by tossing Cena into the steel steps.

Once again in control of the match, Sandow displayed his confidence by taunting Cena. Giving the 10-time WWE Champion a chance to catch his breath was foolish on Sandow’s part as Cena built momentum and prepared to deliver an Attitude Adjustment. Yet once more, “The Czar of Sophistication” showed his own resilience and countered, seemingly keeping the contest in his favor.

As Sandow continued his attempt to secure the biggest win of his career, Cena overpowered him, tossed him face first to the mat and applied the STF. The Intellectual Savior of the Masses immediately tapped out, giving Cena a hard-fought victory and allowing the Cenation leader to focus once more on Dolph Ziggler.
