Chris Masters talks about working with John Cena

Chris Masters appeared on Inside The Ropes radio Thursday night and he mentions John Cena. He said the following below!
On working with John Cena in 2005/06: “That guy had some heavy fists. Carlito and I used to joke around that in tag matches with Cena and HBK, we would literally rush to get to Shawn Michaels, because he wasn’t as heavy with hands and the other guy would be stuck with Cena and you’d be potato’ing each other left and right. I remember at the Elimination Chamber I felt like I was in a real shoot fight. It’s not that he’s bad, he just gets really fired up and he’s got big hands, he doesn’t realise his own strength.”

"Coming off a rough week, John Cena was given a golden opportunity to regroup by new Raw General Manager AJ Lee. He looked to have a WWE Title rematch against CM Punk wrapped up, but The Straight Edge Superstar attacked him before he could defeat Big Show. Now, he’ll have to vanquish both Punk and Big Show at SummerSlam to regain the WWE"

SummerSlam Preview: IN TRIPLE THREAT; CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

SummerSlam Preview: IN TRIPLE THREAT; CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

If WWE Champion CM Punk’s controversial attack on The Rock at Raw 1,000 was not meant to provide water-cooler fodder so much as to remind The Great One of who’s champion, then his actions on Raw episode 1,001—interfering in a No. 1 contender’s match between John Cena and Big Show and declaring them both “losers”—underscored the point that the WWE Champion is not to be stepped on.

What The Second City Saint may not have factored in, however, was the response of Raw General Manager AJ Lee, who announced that Punk will face both Cena and Big Show in a pivotal Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at SummerSlam.

Punk insists he’s out for respect, and if ever there’s a match that will prove Punk’s mettle as champion, it’s this one. His challengers are two first-ballot WWE Hall of Famers, and the match format, in which the champion does not have to be pinned or to submit in order to lose the title, is particularly unfavorable for The Second City Saint. For Punk to make good on his promise of standing across the ring from The Rock at Royal Rumble 2013, he will first have to escape the STAPLES Center with the WWE Championship around his waist on Aug. 19.

Punk inserted himself in the Cena-Show No. 1 contender’s match after being inadvertently swept up in the action when Show launched Cena into Punk, who was providing commentary at ringside. Moments later, when it looked as though Cena was ready to nail the Attitude Adjustment on Show, Punk leapt in the ring and blasted Cena. To add an exclamation point to his statement, Cena drilled Show, on bended knee, with a roundhouse kick.

The angry giant, who claims to be the rightful No. 1 contender, still begrudges Cena for wrestling the guaranteed WWE Championship contract away out of his grip at Money in the Bank. The Cenation leader, conversely, can put at least partial blame on Show for interfering in his challenge to Punk’s WWE Title at Raw 1,000. Repeat interference by The World’s Largest Athlete caused the referee to call for the bell and disqualify Punk, costing Cena his one and only guaranteed title match.

Caught in the middle of Cena and Show’s longstanding ill will, as well as their mutual desire to return to the pinnacle in sports-entertainment, is the WWE Champion, who now has bones to pick with each challenger.

Punk and Cena’s history dates back to last summer when The Straight Edge Superstar, coming off his career-defining “pipe bomb” interview, stunningly defeated Cena in back-to-back pay-per-views. A year removed, Punk and Cena appeared to be on friendlier terms until Punk shocked the WWE Universe by not only trying to use Show’s interference to scrape past Cena, but also by refusing to help Cena while the keeper of the WMD continued his onslaught in the ring. In defending his actions, Punk portrayed himself as a fighting champion who would do whatever it takes to keep the title — even if it requires questionable tactics.

However, Punk’s subsequent, and largely unprovoked, interference in during the July 30 top contender’s match suggests that other, perhaps more sinister, feelings separate the two Superstars who, only a short fortnight ago, were both among WWE’s most popular talents. Let it not be forgotten that in much the same way that The Rock supposedly disrespected Punk by looking past him at next year’s Royal Rumble, Cena has seemingly usurped Punk in match priority. Despite his standing as WWE Champion, Punk has taken a backseat to Cena at each WWE pay-per-view since WrestleMania XXVIII. Though determining match order isn’t within Cena’s purview, one must wonder if Punk holds a personal grudge against Cena for the perceived snubs.

Punk also harbors hostility toward Show for his interference in his WWE Championship defense against Cena at Raw 1,000, claiming it robbed him of the chance to win on his own. Show, unsurprisingly, views it differently, saying Punk blew the match even though Show had done all the heavy lifting for him.

With all three warriors set to compete for the most treasured prize in WWE, and with each Superstar coming with his own particular set of objectives and motivations, the Triple Threat WWE Championship Match has an exciting combination of combustible elements.

Can the domineering Big Show back up his claim that Cena and Punk aren’t in his league? Might the headstrong Cena, as intent on recapturing the WWE Championship as he is delivering payback to Show and Punk, persevere? Or will Punk’s crusade for the spotlight, justified or not, power him to victory over two of the most dominant players in WWE this summer? To find out, tune in Aug. 19 to witness all the excitement of SummerSlam 2012

AFTER RAW WENT OFF AIR: 7/30/2012
After Raw went off the air, John Laurinaitis hit the ring with a steel chair tapped for John Cena. Cena, however, ducked and hit the former Raw General Manager and Executive Vice President of Talent Relations with the Attitude Adjustment. Big Show then tried to attack Cena, but was put to rest with the Attitude Adjustment.

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 7/30/2012

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 7/30/2012 in CINCINNATI

WWE Champion CM Punk showed no remorse for his GTS on The Rock

WWE Champion CM Punk opened Raw by addressing the WWE Universe. The Straight Edge Superstar proclaimed that the end to Raw's 1,000th episode left a bad taste in his mouth, and then confronted commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler face to face from atop the announce table. Telling Lawler that he was wrong to say Punk turned his back on the WWE Universe, The Straight Edge Superstar boasted that The Rock showed an incredible lack of respect to him last week, so he dropped him with the Go To Sleep to show him exactly what he has to look forward to when they square off at the 2013 Royal Rumble.

Big Show came out to the ring and told Punk that the 1,000th episode of Raw was all about him costing Cena the WWE Title, not Punk's attack on The Rock. The World's Largest Athlete vowed that he will be the next WWE Champion, to which Punk shot back that Big Show wasn't able to beat Cena at No Way Out or win a Money in the Bank contract.

John Cena's music suddenly hit and the Cenation leader promptly unloaded on Big Show with a series of rights and lefts, clearing him from the ring as the crowd erupted. In her first official act as the new Raw General Manager, AJ Lee emerged from the back to announce that Cena will face Big Show in tonight's main event, with the winner advancing to face Punk for the WWE Title at SummerSlam!

John Cena vs. Big Show ended in a No Contest

With WWE Champion CM Punk joining in on commentary (and verbally sparring with Jerry "The King" Lawler), John Cena and Big Show held nothing back in a fierce clash to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE Title.

Big Show took Cena off his feet early with a big headbutt and a splash in the corner, but the Cenation leader found a way to take some energy out of The World's Largest Athlete with a sleeper hold. A relentless Cena applied the hold a second time, making Big Show temporarily pass out, though it wasn't enough to get a three-count as he was flung straight out of the ring.

After wearing down Cena with a crushing bearhug, The World's Largest Athlete went for the chokeslam, but Cena pulled off a remarkable counter into a DDT. Cena also rolled out of the way right as Big Show delivered a mighty splash off the second rope, giving him an opportunity to rally against the fazed giant. Back and forth, Cena and Big Show tried to gain the decisive edge to no avail. Cena hit the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, but Big Show bounced back up almost immediately. The 7-footer responded with a towering chokeslam, and Cena somehow kicked out at the two-count.

As the action spilled to the outside, Big Show catapulted Cena over the announce table and into Punk, leaving the WWE Champion strewn across the arena floor. After narrowly beating the 10-count back into the ring, Cena then ducked Big Show's WMD and lifted The World's Largest Athlete above his head, setting him up for the Attitude Adjustment. However, Cena never got a chance to finish the maneuver as The Straight Edge Superstar stopped him with an axe handle to the back, followed by a vicious kick to the head of Big Show. Grabbing the microphone after his attack, Punk declared: "And your winner of this contest is … nobody. They're both losers."

Punk walked with his WWE Title straight to the back, but the new Raw General Manager wasn't about to let The Voice of the Voiceless have the final say. AJ Lee told the WWE Universe, "Actually, CM Punk is wrong … they're both winners," and announced that Punk will defend his WWE Title against both Cena and Big Show in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam. The revelation did not make Punk a happy camper as he defiantly marched back out and demanded that AJ show him some respect. AJ just smiled and Punk continued to let loose on the new GM as Raw went off the air.

"The Cenation leader slips two spots this week after failing to capture WWE Championship gold against CM Punk Monday night. Sure, there were forces at play beyond John Cena’s control, but now that he’s become the first Money in the Bank contract winner to cash in andnotclaim the title, where does the former champion go from here?"
