John Cena grants his 300th wish with Make-A-Wish

John Cena grants his 300th wish with Make-A-Wish

WATCH VIDEO BELOW:

When he’s not in the ring, John Cena has dedicated much of his free time to putting smiles on the faces of the WWE Universe, including kids from Make-A-Wish. The Superstar achieved an awe-inspiring milestone this week, granting his 300th wish to Jonathan Littman of Make-A-Wish.

“I thank Make-A Wish for making me such a part of the charity,” Cena told WWE.com. “It’s an honor to be requested that many times!”

Cena met Littman, 7, of Hop Bottom, Pa., Monday before Raw SuperShow, along with Jonathan’s parents, Charlie and Ruth.

“It was awesome!” Jonathan said about meeting his favorite WWE Superstar.

Then, Wednesday morning, the leader of the Cenation surprised the youngster on ABC’s “Good Morning America," since Jonathan’s wish is to meet Cena and also become a television star.

While Jonathan was interviewed by Sam Champion and Josh Elliot, Cena made his way through the crowd gathered in New York City’s Times Square to hang out with him once again.

The Cenation leader didn't come empty-handed. Cena asked the youngster to join him as his special guest in St. Louis on July 23 for Monday Night Raw's historic 1,000th episode. Jonathan happily accepted the invitation, then presented Cena with a handmade gift of his own - a star with a note on the back from him and his parents, thanking him for all the work he does.

"Because of your positive attitude and example, Jonny never gives up," it read. "Thank you, John Cena. You are one of Jonny's special stars."

The day didn't end when the cameras went off. Cena spent time after the show talking with Jonathan about everything going on in WWE. Jonathan also got a chance to do something he forgot on Monday, getting the former WWE Champion to sign his blue autograph book.

Jonathan's appearance on "Good Morning America" will also get him a reward he's very excited about: his Cub Scouts media badge.

Still, at the end of his time with the WWE Superstar, he was a little sad. Jonathan's mood picked up when he was reminded that he'd be seeing Cena again in just a few weeks for Raw 1,000.

Eight years and 300 wishes later, Cena says meeting each and every child with a life-threatening medical condition through the Make-A-Wish is a special event.

“It felt very good to accomplish the milestone of 300 wishes,” he explained. “In the same realm of Raw hitting its 1,000th episode, it truly is just a foundation. Today was a fantastic day, but no greater or less important than any other wish I’ve been able to be a part of.”

Cena granted his milestone 200th Wish in December 2010 – an achievement six years in the making. In 2009, Cena received the foundation's Chris Greicius Celebrity Award for his dedication to granting wishes. He also serves on Make-A-Wish's Wish Ambassador Council and assists in expanding wish-granting outreach across the United States. Overall, WWE has granted close to 4,000 wishes with Make-A-Wish in more than 25 years.

“That’s what’s special about what we do here in WWE. We offer excitement, we offer entertainment. We offer a positive atmosphere. To an everyday member of the WWE Universe, that is special when you’re a kid or a family that’s up against it,” Cena said.

“You can’t underestimate the power of positive thinking. It’s something as simple as that that maybe could get someone through a day.”

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 6/18/2012

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 6/18/2012
in UNIONDALE, N.Y.
– It's a brave, new world for Raw, and it's one without John Laurinaitis. The former General Manager of Raw and SmackDown was fired by Mr. McMahon at No Way Out, then given a painful farewell by John Cena on Raw SuperShow after Big Show and David Otunga both abandoned him. Replacing Big Johnny for this week as Interim General Manager was none other than Mick Foley, and the WWE Legend quickly made an impact with his savvy matchmaking. Also on Raw, find out what Brock Lesnar's representative Paul Heyman did to make WWE COO Triple H knock him out cold!
John Laurinaitis refused to make a quiet exit. Sporting a neck brace and crutches, the former General Manager and Executive Vice President of Talent Relations repeatedly called members of the WWEUniverse "losers" because they've lost "People Power." After making his entrance, Big Show thanked Laurinaitis for signing him to an ironclad contract and the big, fat bonus, but stated there's no reason The World's Largest Athlete should be in the ring tonight. Big Show then left Laurinaitis and David Otunga high and dry, making it a 2-on-1 Handicap Match against John Cena instead.

It was all Otunga in the early going as The A-Lister tossed Cena hard into the steel ringside steps and bowled over the Cenation leader with a big running shoulder block. Laurinaitis' farewell match took a turn for the worse, however, after Big Johnny tagged in and started to pile on Cena. It was then that Otunga stunned his old boss by taking a walk, becoming the second Superstar to leave Laurinaitis hanging in the main event.
From there, it was pain on top of humiliating pain for Big Johnny. The Cenation leader hit Laurinaitis with the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and slammed him to the canvas with an Attitude Adjustment, but he wasn't done yet. Pointing to former SmackDown GM Theodore Long, who was sitting ringside, Cena dropped Laurinaitis with another A.A., then a third one for good measure at the cheering fans' request. Finally, Cena put an end to Laurinaitis' misery as he locked on the STF and made him tap out.
It was a farewell address – and beating – that the WWE Universe won't soon forget.

WWE Pay-Per-View: No Way Out Results 6/17/2012

WWE Pay-Per-View: No Way Out  Results 6/17/2012

John Cena def. Big Show in a Steel Cage Match

in EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — It took an Attitude Adjustment, some assistance from Mr. McMahon, Brodus Clay and Kofi Kingston, and a little bit of luck, but John Cena did it.

In what will be remembered as one of the most harrowing bouts of his career, the Cenation leader overcame a 441-pound giant inside a dangerous steel cage to not only save his own career, but to also end the tyrannical reign of General Manager John Laurinaitis. For the 10-time WWE Champion, few victories will be this sweet.

It was a match the Superstar knew he had to win, but that didn’t make it easy. From the opening bell, Cena attempted to use his awesome power to topple The World’s Largest Athlete, but the nasty giant was not going to be pushed around at No Way Out. Smacking his opponent away in the same manner that King Kong swatted fighter planes from the sky, Big Show appeared shockingly unfazed by Cena’s strength. Instead, the giant controlled the pace of the bout as he took slow pleasure in the destruction of his opponent. The super heavyweight even found the time to flash a cruel smile when he wasn’t sledgehammering his fists into his opponent’s abdomen.

With Mr. McMahon and John Laurinaitis each keeping concerned eyes on the action from ringside, Big Show displayed his scary strength by standing on the top rope and yanking WWE’s white knight into the air by his neck. From there, The World’s Largest Athlete attempted to launch all 441-pounds of his massive body onto a vulnerable Cena.

The splash would have certainly been the end of the Cenation leader had he not had the presence of mind to roll away from impending doom at the last second. Calling upon an internal strength that few humans possess, Cena then proceeded to stop Show from escaping from the structure by pulling him back into the cage by his leg.

It was a dramatic turn of events from there as Mr. McMahon halted Laurinaitis from interfering in the bout, only to accidentally drive the cage door into Cena’s head when the General Manager tackled The Chairman from behind. Dazed and rattled, Cena stumbled directly into a devastating chokeslam from Big Show, but somehow managed to power out before the three count.

Frustrated, The World’s Largest Athlete decked both the official and Cena with his nuclear warhead of a fist and attempted to walk out of the cage while they both lay motionless on the canvas. There was a problem though. Brodus Clay was standing on the other side of the door with a steel chair in his hand.

Banding together to stop the man who brutally attacked them in recent weeks, Alex Riley, Santino Marella and Zack Ryder all raced to the ring to join The Funkasaurus, only to come face-to-fist with the giant. Kofi Kingston had better luck, however, as he scaled the structure and kicked Big Show back to the canvas, stopping the monster from escaping and ending Cena’s career.

The commotion gave Cena enough time to find energy and rally once again, lifting his humongous opponent onto his back to deliver a thundering AA. But with no referee available to make the count, Cena was forced to climb the cage where Big Johnny was swinging a crutch to stop the Superstar from escaping the cage to win. Once again interjecting himself into the match, Clay grabbed Laurinaitis and allowed Cena to drop to the arena floor for the victory.

Exhausted and battered with purple bruises mapping his body, Cena probably would have preferred to hit the locker room for a hot shower at this point. Instead, he got his hands on Laurinaitis. Heaving his slimy rival onto his shoulders, the Superstar held the former General Manager in place while Mr. McMahon snarled the famous words, “You’re fired!” Cena then sent Laurinaitis packing by driving him through the Spanish announce table with a blistering AA.

It was a fitting end for the man who attempted to drive John Cena from WWE and one that opens up a world of possibilities for WWE. Now that Big Johnny is gone, who will take his place? WWE Universe, get ready to meet the new boss — whoever he or she is.
