WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 7/30/2012

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW RESULTS: 7/30/2012 in CINCINNATI

WWE Champion CM Punk showed no remorse for his GTS on The Rock

WWE Champion CM Punk opened Raw by addressing the WWE Universe. The Straight Edge Superstar proclaimed that the end to Raw's 1,000th episode left a bad taste in his mouth, and then confronted commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler face to face from atop the announce table. Telling Lawler that he was wrong to say Punk turned his back on the WWE Universe, The Straight Edge Superstar boasted that The Rock showed an incredible lack of respect to him last week, so he dropped him with the Go To Sleep to show him exactly what he has to look forward to when they square off at the 2013 Royal Rumble.

Big Show came out to the ring and told Punk that the 1,000th episode of Raw was all about him costing Cena the WWE Title, not Punk's attack on The Rock. The World's Largest Athlete vowed that he will be the next WWE Champion, to which Punk shot back that Big Show wasn't able to beat Cena at No Way Out or win a Money in the Bank contract.

John Cena's music suddenly hit and the Cenation leader promptly unloaded on Big Show with a series of rights and lefts, clearing him from the ring as the crowd erupted. In her first official act as the new Raw General Manager, AJ Lee emerged from the back to announce that Cena will face Big Show in tonight's main event, with the winner advancing to face Punk for the WWE Title at SummerSlam!

John Cena vs. Big Show ended in a No Contest

With WWE Champion CM Punk joining in on commentary (and verbally sparring with Jerry "The King" Lawler), John Cena and Big Show held nothing back in a fierce clash to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE Title.

Big Show took Cena off his feet early with a big headbutt and a splash in the corner, but the Cenation leader found a way to take some energy out of The World's Largest Athlete with a sleeper hold. A relentless Cena applied the hold a second time, making Big Show temporarily pass out, though it wasn't enough to get a three-count as he was flung straight out of the ring.

After wearing down Cena with a crushing bearhug, The World's Largest Athlete went for the chokeslam, but Cena pulled off a remarkable counter into a DDT. Cena also rolled out of the way right as Big Show delivered a mighty splash off the second rope, giving him an opportunity to rally against the fazed giant. Back and forth, Cena and Big Show tried to gain the decisive edge to no avail. Cena hit the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, but Big Show bounced back up almost immediately. The 7-footer responded with a towering chokeslam, and Cena somehow kicked out at the two-count.

As the action spilled to the outside, Big Show catapulted Cena over the announce table and into Punk, leaving the WWE Champion strewn across the arena floor. After narrowly beating the 10-count back into the ring, Cena then ducked Big Show's WMD and lifted The World's Largest Athlete above his head, setting him up for the Attitude Adjustment. However, Cena never got a chance to finish the maneuver as The Straight Edge Superstar stopped him with an axe handle to the back, followed by a vicious kick to the head of Big Show. Grabbing the microphone after his attack, Punk declared: "And your winner of this contest is … nobody. They're both losers."

Punk walked with his WWE Title straight to the back, but the new Raw General Manager wasn't about to let The Voice of the Voiceless have the final say. AJ Lee told the WWE Universe, "Actually, CM Punk is wrong … they're both winners," and announced that Punk will defend his WWE Title against both Cena and Big Show in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam. The revelation did not make Punk a happy camper as he defiantly marched back out and demanded that AJ show him some respect. AJ just smiled and Punk continued to let loose on the new GM as Raw went off the air.

Backstage Fallout: RAW 1,000 7/24/2012; John Cena "mistake"

Backstage Fallout: RAW 1,000 7/24/2012; John Cena "mistake"

John Cena was asked about unsuccessfully cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase on RAW 1,000 against CM Punk. He said, “My mistake. We all know I’ve had issues with CM Punk in the past, but it’s been, the word respect comes up. If you’re the champ, nobody has any loyalty to anything. The word respect comes to mind, even when we’re at each other’s throats. It just respect. I go back to Money in the Bank when Vince went to throw it out and I told him no, and I lost. My watch, my terms, and I respect that.”

AFTER RAW 1,000 WENT OFF AIR!

The Rock and John Cena double-teamed Big Show. Cena hits Show with the Attitude Adjustment, which placed him into position for a People’s Elbow. The Rock, however, didn’t have an elbow pad, so Cena gave him his “Cenation” armband. The Rock spoke on the microphone and said Cena must use headbands as arm bands since no one’s arms are that huge. The Great One then hit The People’s Elbow on Show as Cena left up the ramp. The Rock thanked everyone and posed with a few fans. Show remained in the ring as the house lights come on.

John Cena def. WWE Champion CM Punk via Disqualification

Nearly 250 days into his WWE Title reign, CM Punk faced one of his hardest challenges yet against the tenacious John Cena. The Cenation leader repeatedly used his power to wear down The Straight Edge Superstar, but Punk dished it right back with a series of kicks and submission maneuvers. As Cena attempted the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, Punk kicked him right in the face, and then bowled over the Money in the Bank winner with another sharp kick to the back of the head.

Cena's greatest opportunity to capture the WWE Title came later in the match when he executed a mighty Attitude Adjustment, a move which seemed to leave Punk down for the count. Unfortunately for Cena, the ref was nowhere to be found after being inadvertently knocked out of the ring. It was then that Big Show suddenly surfaced and drilled Cena with a spear, followed by a WMD that connected right on the money. Following Big Show's merciless attack, the WWE Champion looked torn as to whether or not he should try to capitalize on the interference. Punk's moment of hesitation gave Cena enough time to recover and barely kick out of the pinfall attempt.

Resilient as ever, the Cenation leader wriggled away from a Go to Sleep and locked in the STF on The Straight Edge Savior. The WWE Universe would never find out if Punk was going to tap out, because Big Show returned to decimate Cena, leading to a win via disqualification for the Cenation leader while Punk simply turned his back on his defenseless opponent.

The Rock, however, wasn't about to watch idly backstage as his WrestleMania XXVIII rival took a beating. The Great One rushed out to the ring and wobbled the 441-pound Superstar with rights and lefts, then totally leveled him with a huge spinebuster. With The World's Largest Athlete reeling, Punk re-emerged to knock The Brahma Bull off his feet, followed by a Go to Sleep as the WWE Universe watched in bewilderment. As both Cena and The Rock lied strewn across the canvas, the weary — and seemingly conflicted WWE Champion — slowly dragged his feet back up the entrance ramp.

Even though he won the match, Cena wound up on the wrong side of history at Raw 1,000. He will go down in the record books as the first Superstar to unsuccessfully cash in a Money in the Bank championship contract. Punk, on the other hand, has left every WWE fan trying to guess what's running through his head, and wondering whether he made a decision he'll come to regret if he's still WWE Champion heading into Royal Rumble … and The Brahma Bull is breathing down his neck.

CM Punk def. Big Show by disqualification; John Cena to cash in on Raw 1,000

After pushing themselves to the limit in their respective matches one night earlier at Money in the Bank, Big Show and WWE Champion CM Punk fought tooth-and-nail in the night’s main event. As the battle waged on, it looked like The Straight Edge Superstar had Show right where he wanted when Punk launched himself onto Show with a flying elbow from the top rope. But Show came back with a wicked chokeslam that almost resulted in a three count. Next, with the referee knocked out of commission by Show, the bout ended in a disqualification and Show continued to batter the champion. But before he could inflict more damage, Mr. Money in the Bank John Cena charged in with his briefcase.

After citing Punk's 239-day reign as champion, Cena announced he would be cashing in his championship contract next week. “At Raw 1,000, with both of us fresh, we will find out who the best in the world really is,” Cena said.

Not done yet, Mr. Money in the Bank followed up on his Tout to the WWE Universe from earlier in the day. As he uttered the words “My huge announcement? …” Cena swiftly bashed Show with his metal Money in the Bank briefcase, sending him crashing to the arena floor.

WWE: Money In The Bank Pay-Per-View Results: 7/15/2012

WWE: Money In The Bank Pay-Per-View Results: 7/15/2012
John Cena won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract

PHOENIX– The last-minute inclusion of a fifth former WWE Champion into the Money in the BankLadder Match for a WWE Championship Contract was not enough to deter John Cena, who muscled his way, literally, back into the title picture with a monumental win Sunday.

It was a chaotic, ladder-slamming, organ-jarring collision in which the Cenation leader bested not only former WWE Champions Chris Jericho, Kane and Big Show – all of whom were scheduled to compete – but also former champion The Miz, who was named a surprise entrant during the pay-per-view broadcast. Coming out mere hours before the match’s opening bell, The Awesome One – who’s been away from the ring so that he could star in the WWE Studios’ film “Marine: Homefront” –  pledged to make a “sudden impact.”

Standing in his way, however, were four other former champions, including Cena, who vowed for weeks to recommit to regaining the WWE Championship he’s held 10 times previously.

Before his outstretched hand could secure the briefcase, however, Cena first had to contend with a formidable field of former champions. The out-of-control battle saw no shortage of highlights, ranging from Jericho’s sleeper hold applied high atop the ladder to a super-sized Attitude Adjustment for Show through the Spanish announce table.

The huge AA was not what ensured victory for Cena. In fact, the maneuver, which came within the first five minutes of the match, only served to set the tone for a barbaric brawl. The impressive feat of strength was only the tip of the iceberg for Cena, who truly had a herculean showing in his first Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Before the final bell rung, he’d unleash his inhuman power in at least one more incredible, contract-securing, display.

There’s no doubt that Cena was the least experienced “banker” heading into this match. Whereas the bout was Cena’s maiden voyage into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, all other participants are veterans of the match format. Kane and The Miz are former winners, Show’s competed before, and Jericho, though winless in Money in the Bank, invented the match concept.

No amount of experience could prepare any of the competitors for the pain they’d end up enduring. After Show was laid out with the Attitude Adjustment, Cena, Kane and The Miz all took turns piling ladders onto the fallen Show, ostensibly burying the angry giant and taking him out of action for several minutes.

From there, the participants set their sights on those Superstars who were still upright. Determined to finally prevail in a match of his own creation, Jericho took the fight to The Miz, momentarily locking in the Walls of Jericho. After that attempt was interrupted by Kane, Jericho propped a ladder on the top turnbuckle, with the top pointing in toward the ring, and rammed Miz face-first into it, treating The Awesome One to a skull-crushing finale of a different variety.

The Miz would regain his composure, only to be assailed by Kane. When it looked like the championship contract was The Big Red Monster’s for the taking, the pesky Y2J reinserted himself into the action. Moments later, Jericho joined forces with The Miz to double-suplex Kane onto a ladder.

At this point, a re-energized Cena ran amok, slamming both The Miz and Jericho onto a ladder – a precursor to a crowd-pleasing double “You Can’t See Me” fist drop for two of the match’s cockier Superstars. Though the move caused the U.S. Airways Center to explode with excitement, it would not be enough for Cena to score victory … yet.

After seemingly being down for the count, Show emerged from his crypt of ladders just in time to stop Jericho, who had bounced back from the Cena fist drop, from grabbing the contract. An infuriated Show worked over his former WWE Tag Team Championship partner, breaking ladders, as Michael Cole put it, “like toothpicks.” Show used pieces of a shattered ladder to brutalize Jericho. He then moved on to Cena, whom he sandwiched between a ladder and the ropes before splashing him with evil intentions.

With other Superstars downed minutes in, Show resorted to a trick seen years ago in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match: The World’s Largest Athlete unearthed from beneath the ring a heavy duty, giant-sized, reinforced ladder that made the other steel ladders look meager by comparison. (Kane stalled Show’s attempt to grab the briefcase, and Jericho repeatedly slammed a chair into the giant’s back, causing him to come back down to the canvas.

Smelling opportunity, Jericho began ascending the ladder, as did Cena. As the two staggered warriors climbed one rung at a time, the valuable briefcase swayed overhead. Cena maneuvered Jericho onto his shoulders, causing the WWE Universe to erupt with anticipation for the towering Attitude Adjustment to come. The cagey Jericho had other plans, however, and with catlike grace, he turned the AA into a sleeper hold on Cena as the Cenation leader stood near the top of the ladder.

Despite battling valiantly, Cena could not hold on, and he slipped to  the mat, leaving Jericho, by himself, inches away from attaining the championship contract. Jericho shrugged off a brief flurry by The Miz, only to meet a more massive foe: Big Show.

Staring in horror at the monster across from him, Jericho soon ate a WMD and fell lifelessly to the canvas. The Miz scaled the ladder but met a similar fate. Then, with the drive of a champion, Cena scaled the ladder and thwarted Show’s briefcase grab.

Holding the briefcase before his face, Cena used the steel case to block a third WMD from Show that dented the steel. As he struggled mightily to fight off Show and take the briefcase, Cena ended up snapping  the briefcase from its steel bracket, winning the guaranteed championship contract in a most unorthodox way and continuing to blast Big Show with the case.

With a look of amazement and relief plastered across his face, the Cenation leader celebrated high above the U.S. Airways Center as his legion of passionate followers cheered on, undoubtedly anticipating the moment the righteous Cena chooses to cash in within the next 365 days.

WWE: Masters of the WWE Universe: 10 titanic toy tussles

WWE: Masters of the WWE Universe: 10 titanic toy tussles

John Cena and He-Man in the same world? Or perhaps even on the same team? Only in the wildest dreams of WWE and He-Man fans – or through a wacky spell cast awry by Orko – would the realm of sports-entertainment somehow cross into Eternia, where the Masters of the Universe have waged battle for three decades. But what showdowns would ensue between the squared circle’s finest Superstars and the mightiest warriors of Eternia?

In celebration of He-Man’s 30th anniversary and the festivities of San Diego Comic-Con International 2012, WWE.com offers its dream matchups, pitting the Masters of the Universe and Skeletor’s Evil Warriors against the decorated competitors of Raw and SmackDown. See 10 plastic pairings and toy tussles, featuring the WWE and Masters of the Universe Classics action figures by Mattel, plus catch bonus scenes in the exclusive “Masters of the WWE Universe” photo gallery.

John Cena & He-Man vs. Big Show & Skeletor

It’s all come down to this. The fates of both Eternia and the entire WWE Universe will be decided when 12-time World Champion John Cena joins forces with He-Man, “The Most Powerful Man in the Universe,” to clash with the sinister Skeletor and the menacing Big Show in the main event of Mattel’s “Masters of the WWE Universe.”

Although hailing from West Newbury, Mass. – a landscape that bears little resemblance to the fantastical realms of Eternia – Cena is nevertheless engrained with the very same virtues that have made heroic powerhouse He-Man the most celebrated defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull. With He-Man’s legendary Power Sword and Cena’s ring-shaking Attitude Adjustment in their combined arsenal, this tandem could very well go down in history as “The Most Powerful Tag Team in the Universe.”

However, Big Show’s ferocious mean streak and incapacitating knockout punch – also known as the WMD – might give Skeletor the necessary leverage to finally defeat his longtime rival He-Man in this anticipated in-ring encounter. Utterly decimating the likes of Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Brodus Clay, Zack Ryder and Santino Marella, The World’s Largest Athlete has proven that his affinity for wreaking havoc regardless of the consequences puts him on the same level as even the most sadistic of Skeletor’s Evil Warriors.

THE VICTORS
By the power of “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect,” John Cena & He-Man have the power! Countering Big Show’s WMD with a devastating knockout punch of his own, He-Man could very well cut The World’s Largest Athlete down to size in this epic bout. As for Skeletor, Masters of the Universe fans and WWE Universe Members alike would agree that the ruler of Snake Mountain has long been in need of an Attitude Adjustment, which the Cenation leader will be more than happy to deliver … and perhaps He-Man as well. — J.W.

WWE'S MARVEL-OUS SUPERSTARS; Captain America & John Cena

WWE'S MARVEL-OUS SUPERSTARS

Greetings, true believers.

Sports-entertainers have long been compared to comic book heroes and villains, and with just cause. The four-color worlds in which those larger-than-life archetypes reside certainly have their overlapping elements. Bombastic battles, colorful clothing and alliterative alter egos abound in their analogous arenas. The “good guys” and “bad guys” of the comic book universes battle it out inside the panels in a fashion similar to how scores are settled inside the WWE ring.

WWE.com has taken an inner-office argument and turned it into a blockbuster summer list event, comparing WWE’s Superstars and Divas to their Marvel Comics counterparts. So suit up and check out the list, then be sure to sound off in the comments and on Facebook about which Superstars and Divas you’d pair up with their mighty Marvel counterparts!

And of course, in the immortal words of Stan "The Man" Lee, "Excelsior!"

Captain America & John Cena

Since he first appeared in 1941, clocking Hitler across the jaw, Captain America – the first Avenger – has stood for equality all over the world. More than that, Marvel’s resident super soldier has become a symbol of hope, both in comic books and the real world. Though displaced in time, Cap (as he is known is to his friends and fans) represents the good in all of us, a red, white and blue-clad example of what we should all aspire to be no matter your nationality.

John Cena isn’t a super-soldier like Steve Rogers, nor does he wield a mighty shield, but he, like the star-spangled Avenger, stands up for what he believes in and always fights for the greater good. There’s also no threat too great that could keep the Cenation leader from standing up to a challenge inside the ring or fulfilling wishes for young fans all over the world.

The WWE Universe often refers to the former WWE Champion as “SuperCena” for his seemingly superhuman strength and uncanny ability to emerge victorious even when all of the chips are stacked against him. Yet, the truth about “SuperCena” doesn’t necessarily lie in what he does inside the squared circle; it’s more about what he represents. Cena’s creeds of “hustle, loyalty and respect” and “rise above hate” are synonymous with Captain America’s never-ending battle for those less fortunate and oppressed through the evils of hatred.

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: 7/9/2012
In DENVER

John Cena & Kane vs. Big Show & Chris Jericho ended in a No Contest

The Cenation leader wasted no time making his point before he teamed with Kane to face Big Show & Chris Jericho, vowing, quite simply, that he would be victorious against his opponents in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the WWE Championship Contract, and hoist the trademark red briefcase in victory when the dust had settled. Cena's promise segued perfectly into a tag match that saw the four competitors in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the WWE Championship Contract mix it up in peak form.

The match began with a high-octane battle between Cena and Jericho before Kane and Big Show tagged in for an earth-shattering rematch of their contest the previous week. Kane got the upper hand early against The World’s Largest Athlete, but Big Show’s raw power proved a difficult test for The Devil’s Favorite Demon. Jericho and Big Show, the former Unified Tag Team Champions, proved they hadn’t lost a step in their strategy, each distracting the referee at various points and allowing the other to get in a few cheap shots against their opponents.

The match ultimately came down to Cena and Jericho, but before the Cenation leader could notch a three count on The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla, Big Show struck by pulling Cena off his opponent and decimating both him and Kane, sending the bout to a no contest. The giant then retrieved a pair of ladders from beneath the ring, laying waste to Kane and trapping Jericho’s body between the folds of the ladder before Cena made his presence known again, driving Show out of the ring with a ladder of his own and celebrating in the ring.
